About Oyate Studio:
Oyate Studio is a culturally rich and innovative art studio and company based in Eagle Butte, South Dakota on the Cheyenne River Reservation home to four bands of the Lakota people. They believe that art offers a powerful and layered metaphor for the human condition, reflecting themes of perception, Lakota lifeways, and interconnectedness. Their mission is to provide a platform of resources and support to empower the creative talent within the community. Specializing in the creation of artisanal products, they provide a fully resourced co-workspace to teach and learn new art forms with aspiring Native artisans. At the same time, their co-workspace allows established native artisans to utilize their tools and creative energy to further develop their own art. Oyate Studio is dedicated to empowering and supporting creativity within their community to ensure that art not only resonates with profound meaning but also contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of the Cheyenne River Reservation.
